Living Life to the Fullest...

Tony and I started randomly talking about living life to the fullest...

What does that mean exactly???
Are we???

I think it means spending time in the activities that give you joy and avoiding situations that take away from that joy. Or does it mean much more than that??? Much less??? Does it mean to be brave, take chances, live on the edge, spread your wings, be charitable???

I googled "Living life to the fullest" and came up with some pretty cool quotes about this quite philosophical thought...

A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song.
-Chinese proverb

Quit hanging on to the handrails . . . Let go. Surrender. Go for the ride of your life. Do it every day.
-Melody Beattie, "Finding Your Way Home"

There is the risk you cannot afford to take and there is the risk you cannot afford not to take.
-Peter Drucker

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
-Wayne Gretzky

No one lives on the top of the mountain. It’s fine to go there occasionally —for inspiration, for new perspectives. But you have to come down. Life is lived in the valleys. That’s where the farms and gardens and orchards are, and where the plowing and the work is done. That’s where you apply the visions you may have glimpsed from the peaks.
-Arthur Gordon

It is our choices, Harry, that show what we really are, far more than our abilities.
-Albus Dumbledore in one of the
Harry Potter books & movies

The only certain means of success is to render more and better service than is expected of you, no matter what your task may be. . . The surest way to doom yourself to mediocrity is to perform only the work for which you are paid.
-Og Mandino in
"The Greatest Miracle in the World"

One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats.
-Iris Murdoc

Ecclesiastes 11 can be summed up in four words:
BE BOLD and BE JOYFUL

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”

Carpe diem! Rejoice while you are alive; enjoy the day; live life to the fullest; make the most of what you have. It is later than you think.”

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Living in a constant chase after gain compels people to expend their spirit to the point of exhaustion”

To live is to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are and what you stand for, where you want to go and why you want to get there.”

If I had my life to live over again, I'd try to make more mistakes next time. I would relax. I'd be sillier than I have been on this trip. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers and watch more sunsets. I would have more actual troubles and less imaginary ones. Oh, I've had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I'd have more of them. In fact, I'd try to have nothing else, just moments, one after another... I would pick more daisies.
- Nadine Stair (at age 89)

Life is too important to be taken too seriously.
- Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)

The most wasted of all days is that during which one has not laughed.
- Nicolas Chamfort (1741-94)

The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.
- Henry Ward Beecher (1813-87)

Keep in mind this daily notion: There are no ordinary moments.
- Dan Millman, adapted

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.
- Buddha (563-483 B.C.)

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes but in having new eyes.
- Marcel Proust (1871-1922)

To be blind is bad, but worse it is to have eyes and not to see.
- Helen Keller (1880-1968)

Savor the smiles and laughter of your children-- there is nothing more important.
- Gary Fenchuk

That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much.
- Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-94)

Clearly this thought has many contexts...
~Living a simple life
~Living an adventurous live
~Living a life of servitude
~Living a life of no regrets
~Living a life of faith
~Living like each day is your last
~Living a happy, joyous life

It's just an all around good thought!!!

My favorite is the one about not living on the mountain. I think there are many times I feel that all I am doing is trying to climb to the top...why...as it said...life is beautiful in the valley...it is where the seeds are planted and our fruits are harvested.
