My favorite sound

I still have a smile two hours after hearing... really hearing my favorite sound this evening. My favorite sound is Tony reading to the girls at bedtime. I sat down, closed my eyes and listened... there is truly nothing sweeter to my ears. The sighs, moans, and groans of getting the most perfect "spot". The shrieks of "Daddy I get to pick first"... "No, my turn!"... "How about we read them in the order they are stacked". The demands for the necessities of storytime... bears, pacifiers, blankies, and the usual menagerie Kyndra lugs around; right now that is a sea shell, a horse, a dinosaur, and a stuffed Rudolph. Anyway, after all is settled and Tony begins life is good... it doesn't get any better. I love to listen to Tony's voice as he reads... it is endearing as a daddy and reminds me of all the reasons I married him. Reading to the girls is miles away from his daily grind at work... it is the perspective he needs after dealing with what he deals with. The girls' giggles and questions are the truest innocence I can imagine experiencing. These are the moments to cherish.

Some... just some of the many favorites. I would say "Going on a Bear Hunt" is the current ultimate favorite.

Baaaaaa...

The girls and I spent yesterday afternoon with friends visiting a sheep ranch. I still can't get over what a great time we had... definitely a cherished memory. Kylee was quite scared at first. She instantly turned to me with her arms up, "But Pea, But Pea (up please)." Tony's voice kept ringing in my head... don't pick her up, she has to get through it, so I resisted and she ended up having a blast. She got really brave and I do recognize had I picked her up that would have been it, her feet would have never touched the ground. Upon pulling up to the barn we were greeted by LOTS of dogs, adorable puppies included. I would have bought one then and there had they not all been sold. I love working dogs!!! I could have watched them all day. We started out visiting the sick lambs in the hospital and then walked through the barn and viewed a timelime of babies from really newborn to the outside pens where they were frisky and chasing each other. We saw chickens and horses too. What an experience... Kylee keeps talking about the "daddy sheep" and Kyndra has mentioned the "hospital" several times.

The Hospital, "it's okay baby, what are baby lambs called again?"...

Just out of the barn, maybe I don't need my passie...

"These mamas still need to have their babies"...

"Kylee, look at those babies chasing each other, how do they know which one is their mama?"...

Heading towards the sunset, "Maybe we can find that mama that is just about to have her baby, look one is 'laying down' because she is tired."...

"Check out this hole, one of those really cool dogs dug it, it is super deep"...

"Sheep pum (come) here right now!!!"...

Baby McKenzie and Kyndra loved the horse... Kylee wanted NOTHING to do with petting a horse...

"The daddies"...

Trendsetter

Tony called me one day and said, "I never care about being the first to do anything, but I want to be the first in town to have the new Share The Road license plate." I suppose since his job entails a lot of license plate gazing he would know.

Biking is one of Tony's many hobbies and probably his most controversial. He rides his bike to work every possible day he can and let me tell you walking into a police department in "tights" isn't an easy thing to do. It's not like he can even sneak in because he uses cleats that clip into his pedals. When he enters that back door of the police department and taps his way across the concrete floor the satire begins. He takes it like a man (in tights), as he knows he dishes out plenty of grief.

He put on his new license plate the day before a big four-wheelin' trip with some guys. He rode to the cabin with his chief and when they arrived at the cabin (they had to four wheel in) mention was made of his new plate. His good friend looked at him and said, "Please, Please don't tell me you have a license plate with a dude wearing spandex." He proudly declared he most certainly does.

He did however almost send it back, since at quick glance it looks like it reads DORX.

Bunners

Our family affectionately refers to our bottoms as bunners. The girls like to chase each other and say, "I got your bunners" as they pinch at each other. All in good fun until you are walking through the locker room at the gym with your two year old who notices an older, naked woman and yells, "Wow, mom look at those bunners!!!"

Just Sittin'

Mondays we go watch Tony play volleyball, Tuedays we watch Kyndra swim, and Thursdays we watch Kyndra in ballet. As we were driving to watch Tony play volleyball in the ultra-competative, power league Kyndra said, "We watch families do activities right."
I was so proud as I replied, "Yes Kyndra families support and encourage each other." She responded by saying, "Well, we don't watch you because you just sit there." I was a little deflated.
